Meet Noah Williams Pre-Sales Engineer
With a robust background in the U.S. Navy and extensive experience in the DoD, Noah brings a wealth of knowledge to idt.
Professional Background:
Noah retired from the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologic Technician with a Maintenance specialty before making the transition to a DoD contractor.
“…the foundation of my experience was dealing with various systems used for collection, analysis and dissemination for our National Intelligence apparatus. Once I left service I took those skills and knowledge on ComSec, information systems, sensors, electronics and security procedures to work as a DOD contractor.
I have worked overseas in numerous war zones in positions such as technician, lead technician, information security officer and as multisite supervisor for various ISR programs for the AF, Army and Marines.
I left overseas and came to work for AFRL on their OADCGS program for both Identity and Database management. I then took a position with AFJWICS program management office as their Senior Integration Engineer/Enterprise Architect. It was this last position that caught the attention of idt.”
What Brought You to idt.?
“The opportunity to come work as a presales engineer to get exposed to a wider audience and new technology. Competitive pay and a dynamic team I’ve had the privilege of working with have made it a good fit for a team player such as myself.”
What Has Surprised You Working at idt.?
“The amount of travel and level of personal contact. Travel is always great as a former Sailor and Army brat - being in the same place to long would drive me crazy. The level of personal interaction is what I refer to with customers and vendors that’s so outgoing that at times I’m truly stunned that everyone remembers all the names and companies associated with them.”
Daily Role and Impact:
“My function in idt. is that of a Pre Sales Engineer / Solutions Architect (Cybersecurity). This involves both being familiar with numerous technologies and associated hardware. Providing OEM comparison and designing solution-based customer use cases.
My role in idt is to provide engineering support to our sales team with the goal of ensuring that we are providing the best product possible at the best price to the customer.”
Pillar-Specific Insights:
Highlights of Working in Cybersecurity:
“I love that cyber is a continuously evolving area of technology. Meaning that as soon as you figure out a way to defend against a threat you are challenged by another. This keeps you focused on constantly learning.”
Challenges of Working in Cybersecurity:
“The most challenging element of Cybersecurity is explaining that buzzwords are easy but truly building out a robust security posture requires investment in training, software, hardware, and mind set. There is no ‘buy this and you have Zero Trust.”
Thoughts of the Future of Cybersecurity:
“I truly see our investment in Cybersecurity increasing as more and more customers realize that neglecting this small part of the enterprise has an outsized effect on the enterprise as a whole. This is easily a growth sector and as we move into even more automations in everyday life such as health, payroll, building infrastructure and just data protection we will need to expand our team.”
